What's New
Our summer play is Nunsense at sea, Meshuggah-Nuns! Many
people are familiar with the Little Sisters of Hoboken from the
Nunsense shows. In this adventure the Little Sisters find themselves
on a cruise and are recruited to put on a show to entertain the guests.
The show will be performed on July 18,19, 25 and 26th at 7:00 PM and on
July 27th at 2:00 PM.
FACT has recently upgraded the Luther Elementary Stage with a new
sound system which can be used for plays and by the elementary school.
We have also purchased 100 comfortable chairs which will be used in the
school board room but which will be moved for spectators when we perform
plays.

Toni Jorgensen, president of the Luther PTO, presents Breck McHenry,
president of FACT, with a check for $500 that the PTO donated toward the
cost of the new Luther sound system. Breck, Jennifer Vosz, Toni and Kim
Westby stand in front of the new sound system. Jennifer is a FACT board
member and Government and Education Specialist for AVI Midwest, the
company that installed the sound system. Kim is the Luther Elementary
music teacher,

Pictured are some of the new chairs that were purchased for Luther
Elementary School to be used for FACT productions at the school.
What is FACT
Fort Atkinson Community
Theatre, Inc. (FACT) began as a group of individuals who gathered in the
summer of 1962 to form a community theatre group. Prior to that time,
theatre pieces were presented by church groups and others, but not as an
organized body. About 25 people attended the first meeting and in
November of that year the Fort Atkinson Community Theatre presented the
play Harvey. Three months later the organization became
incorporated.
Since that first production, the Fort
Atkinson Community Theatre has presented over 80 plays of all kinds, as
well as three productions of the Blackhawk Pageant. Over the 40 year
history of the theatre, thousands of people have not only attended these
productions but also participated in them. In 1969, FACT created a
scholarship fund called the "Comstock Memorial Scholarship." The
scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors from Fort
Atkinson High School who demonstrate an interest in continuing their
education in the arts. The scholarship is funded completely from
revenues generated from performance admissions. FACT also contributes revenue
from its plays for Fort Atkinson High School Auditorium upgrades, the
most recent being $8000 toward new fly rails.
We encourage and welcome any with a
love of theatre to become a member of FACT. When casting plays, FACT
opens its auditions to anyone who shows interest. All are welcome to
learn about set construction, lighting, sound and makeup. Please contact
any FACT board member with questions.
