Noises Off
July 8,9,10, 2004
7:00 P.M.
Noises Off is a play within a play about a play. When the curtain
goes up in Act One, we see what we believe is the start of a traditional farce
called Nothing On. Then a voice bellows from the back of the house. It is the frustrated director
trying to get a second rate acting troupe in a bad play through a disastrous
technical rehearsal. After Act 1, the set rotates to show the same play from
backstage. The play hasn't gotten any better, but relations between the cast
members have deteriorated into absolute bedlam involving love triangles, hidden bottles
of whiskey and sardines. The New York Times says, "The only possible response is
to laugh uproariously."
Plan to visit an outrageous world behind the scenes as FACT brings you the pandemonium
of Noises Off. Tickets are available for $8 in advance at Humphrey Floral
and Gift (201 S. Main St. in Fort Atkinson) or at the door for $10.
This play requires a large set piece that will rotate to use the back. We will
need a large number of people for set construction. Anyone interested is invited
to help with construction and painting. The set of theatrical blueprints has
been rented to make it easier for those with construction experience. FACT has limited tools available, so please bring your own if you
have them.
