Praise for You Can't Take It With You

I attended this community production and found myself immediately engaged. Using creative costumes, sound effects, and a large dose of humor, the cast and crew delivered lots of laughter and frolicsome fun! We audience members participated as well, with props to use for sound effects to punctuate the rollicking, interactive show. I would disagree with the sentiment expressed in the show’s title—I certainly took this show with me, leaving with a smile and happy memories. Looking forward to future shows! Well done!

About the Show

We kicked off our 2022-23 Season with the hilarious radio play, You Can't Take It With You, performed by the cast of the FACT Reader's Theatre, and complete with fun sound effects and audience participation!

Originally produced in 1939, the play follows the story of sweet-natured Alice Sycamore, who falls for banker's son Tony Kirby. But when she invites her snooty prospective in-laws to dinner to give their blessing to the marriage, Alice's peculiar extended family -- including philosophical grandfather Martin Vanderhof, hapless fledgling ballerina sister Essie, and fireworks enthusiast father, Paul -- might be too eccentric for the staid Kirbys.

Thank you to everyone who attended the show! We had a fantastic time and we hope you did, too. Special thank you to director Benjamin Whitcomb and the cast of You Can't Take It With You.

If you missed the show, don't fret; a video recording is on the way. Keep your eyes peeled! And stay tuned for our next Reader's Theatre event, coming soon!
